Social enterprises and charities can potentially save money
and the environment by using green energy. Charities can get grants and funding to cover the installation of
renewable energy on their properties, and the energy generated can be a great
source of income.
There are many options available for installing green energy
and in the UK
there are new signs of an emerging green revolution. In 2008 the government
announced there will be a “Feed-In Tariff” for renewable energy from next year.
This scheme, which has already been introduced throughout Europe,
will guarantee an above-market payment for every unit of renewable energy you
generate.
British Eco has worked with thousands of individuals,
schools and care homes who installed Solar Thermal panels to lower their energy
bills. Since renewable energy reduces
the energy bills, the installation will pay for itself. Energy bills are continuing to rise and
fossil fuels continue to be a source of global instability. Thus renewable
energy is the ethical choice. Moreover
reducing our dependence on fossil fuels will lower our carbon emissions to
secure a sustainable future on our planet.
Moreover, there are grants available. British Eco recently enabled schools to gain
full funding for the installation of a wind turbine. The 50% government grants under Phase 2 of
the Low Carbon Buildings Programme will finish in June, but there is also
Lottery Funding available to support renewable energy for charities and
community organisations.
British Eco can offer a free survey service to any Charity
or Social Enterprise responding to this article. We will also offer a 5%
discount on any renewable energy solution for example Solar, Wind, Heat Pumps,
Biomass or Rainwater recycling. Do call us on 0845 257 0041 to organize the
free consultation for your charity or social enterprise.
